Pokong claims X removed his critical content based on 'disinformation circulated by Beijing.' This wouldn't be the first time a tech titan’s high-minded rhetoric about open discourse crumbles under geopolitical or financial
pressure. Remember when Apple removed the Hong Kong protest app from its store following pressure from Beijing in 2019? Or how Hollywood routinely censors films for access to the Chinese market? (Looking at you, every major studio.) Musk, who has significant business interests in China (Tesla, SpaceX), frequently champions 'free speech' only until it complicates his bottom line. How many
'absolutes' can one magnate hold when challenged by a market of 1.4 billion people? Apparently, the 'public square' has very selective acoustics, especially when Beijing starts pulling strings. One might wonder if the CCP suddenly found Musk's commitment to 'free speech' as malleable as his Twitter polls.
