DW Reports Iranian Death Toll, Forgets US-Backed Instigation
Deutsche Welle dutifully reports that, according to 'activists,' over 540 people have died in Iranian protests. (Activists, of course, being the most reliable news source, unless they're Palestinian.) What's conveniently left out is the long, documented history of Western intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA and Mossad, sponsoring and exploiting internal dissent in Iran. Remember the
millions funneled to 'democracy promotion' groups? (Source: NYT, 2008, 'C.I.A. Said to Use Covert Funds in Iran'). This isn't just about human rights; it's a well-worn playbook for destabilization, perfectly echoed in Libya and Syria. We're expected to mourn the victims, certainly, but ignore the possibility that some of these 'protests' are deliberately manipulated provocations designed to
escalate conflict, not genuine revolutionary fervor. When the US budget allocates funds for 'countering Iranian influence', or when the National Endowment for Democracy funds Iranian opposition groups (Source: NED annual reports), one might wonder if the headlines are less about spontaneous uprising and more about manufactured consent for yet another regime change. How many times are we going to
fall for the 'freedom fighters' narrative before we realize the cost is always paid in blood, mostly civilian, and the beneficiaries are never the local populace?
