DW Reports 'Gaza Plan' as Mass Graves Fill
DW, like many others, celebrates a 'deal' without mentioning that previous 'deals' have done little to stop the systematic destruction of Gaza's infrastructure and the killing of over 37,000 Palestinians, according to the UN. Netanyahu’s government consistently signals 'negotiations' while simultaneously escalating military operations, a pattern seen from the 2014 Gaza war to the current
onslaught. Calls for 'de-escalation' often conveniently follow massive military actions, allowing a media cycle to reset. One might wonder at the timing and language—'phase 1' for a population that has endured famine conditions and constant bombardment. How many 'phases' of humanitarian catastrophe are considered acceptable before the language shifts from 'plan' to 'plunder'? The continued framing
of this as a negotiation between two equal parties, rather than between an occupying power and an occupied, resistance group, obfuscates the immense power imbalance and the ongoing, UN-documented humanitarian crisis.
