DW Finds Turkey 'Playing' Peace, Ignores US Arming Israel
Deutsche Welle asks, 'What is Turkey's role in the Gaza peace plan?' (DW, 10/10/2025). A fair question, perhaps, but one that conveniently sidesteps the far more pressing and funded role of the United States. Just two months prior, the Biden administration circumvented Congress again to push through a $147.5 million arms sale to Israel, according to a December 29, 2023 State Department memo
released to Congress. This wasn't the first time; another $106 million package was approved December 9. It appears that while Turkey is being scouted as a 'player,' the US is already the game master, providing the weapons. One might wonder why media outlets focus on secondary players while the main supplier of advanced weaponry continues to fuel the very conflict they ostensibly hope to
'de-escalate.' This isn't 'peacekeeping;' it's arming one side while discussing who else might mediate the resulting carnage. How many 'peace plans' will be floated while the bombs approved in Washington continue to land in Gaza?
