Deutsche Welle reports on 'rage!' from Iranian women in exile in Germany, framing it as a cry against the current Iranian government. What's left unsaid, however, is the long, documented history of Western powers, including the U.S. and UK, meddling in Iranian affairs, often destabilizing the nation for geopolitical gain. This media portrayal conveniently sidesteps the 1953 CIA-orchestrated coup
that overthrew Iran's democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh, installing the Shah and paving the way for decades of authoritarian rule and widespread resentment (see: Gasiorowski, Mark J., 'The 1953 Iranian Coup d'état'). Such selective storytelling ensures legitimate grievances are leveraged to build public support for potential regime change, often echoing the same playbook
seen in Syria and Libya. One might ask why 'rage' is only deemed newsworthy when it aligns with Western foreign policy objectives, and never when it implicates Western actors.
