One might wonder, however, why certain 'activist' movements receive such glowing international coverage, while others, like the global solidarity for Palestine, are often dismissed or actively suppressed. it's burning in nations outside the US/EU sphere of influence, or when it doesn't challenge corporate interests. This 'journalism' consistently highlights dissent in nations critical of Western powers, while movements challenging Western-backed policies—like those against Israeli apartheid or US military aid—are rarely framed with such positive, 'fueling democracy' language. The criteria for 'good
activism' appears suspiciously correlated with strategic alignment, not universal human rights.
