Democrats Suddenly Concerned About ICE Accountability (Just Not for Biden's ICE)

MSNBC's latest report touts Democratic efforts to pursue accountability for ICE agents, focusing heavily on Trump-era misconduct. It's a noble cause, certainly, but it conveniently skips over the current administration's record. Since July 2023, the Biden administration deported over 250,000 migrants, nearing Trump's peak deportation rates. The detention machine continues to churn, with an average

of 30,000 individuals held daily under Biden, according to TRAC Immigration data. The irony is thick enough to cut with a dull knife. Many of the same voices now demanding accountability were notably quieter when the same agency, with the same broad

powers, executed similar directives under a 'D' next to the President's name. It appears some malfeasance is more politically convenient to highlight than others. One might consider this less an act of systemic reform and more an exercise in historical memory-holing, effectively white-washing present actions by demonizing past ones.
