Democrats Suddenly Care About Troubled ICE Hiring Sprees

Democrats, led by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), are now very concerned about a 'troubling pattern' of misconduct among newly hired Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. This sudden scrutiny comes after years of Democrats supporting massive budget increases for border enforcement agencies. Curiously, their concerns appear to spike only when

photos of agents on horseback chasing migrants gain national traction, not when the agencies themselves are snatching families or caging children. It begs the question: were these hiring practices only 'troubling' when they became politically inconvenient? This isn’t about agency reform; it's about optics. When ICE and CBP received record funding bumps under both Democratic and Republican

administrations, including for hiring surges, where were these urgent calls for oversight? The actual mission—deterrence and detention—remains unchallenged. It appears the 'issues' are not with the agents' actions, but with their poor public relations. (Remember when it was 'just a few bad apples' every time another atrocity surfaced?)
