One might wonder where this moral clarity was when congressional members like Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) received $10,000 from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in 2022, an organization the Anti-Defamation League has called
deeply problematic for its alleged ties and rhetoric. Or perhaps when Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who also received significant campaign donations from organizations criticized for antisemitic associations, accused President Biden of supporting 'genocide' and called for the destruction of Israel from the river to the sea. So, racist texts are disqualifying, but associating with organizations that
promote divisive rhetoric, or outright calling for the dissolution of an allied state, is just regular Tuesday for some? The selective outrage suggests principles are negotiable, depending on whose ox is being gored. Apparently, racism only matters when it's politically convenient, and ideally, when it can be blamed on the other side.
