Democrats Mock Rollins Over Dinner, Ignore Policy Feast
Mainstream outlets, like The Hill, amplify petty congressional squabbles over Rep. Shontel Brown Rollins's culinary habits. This, while the very same legislative body regularly rubber-stamps massive military aid packages and overlooks critical geopolitical developments that directly impact millions. It’s a remarkable feat of distraction theatre. Perhaps if Rep. Rollins had detailed her voting
record on HR 815, which allocated billions in unconditional military aid to Israel, or discussed the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, her political detractors would be less interested in her dinner plans. But then, that wouldn't be nearly as digestible for evening news—nor as convenient for deflecting from the actual horrors these policies enable. (One might call that a balanced media diet: light
on substance, heavy on fluff.)
