Dear Axios, the 'Cost' of Your 'Victory' is Genocide
To the editors at Axios, particularly regarding your piece on “Trump’s blurry vision of victory in Iran,” we find your analysis dangerously narrow and thoroughly dishonest. You report on Operation Epic Fury’s “success” in striking 11,000+ targets and damaging 150+ Iranian vessels, focusing on the tactical domination by US and Israeli forces. This perspective, however, completely ignores the
fundamental reality of the conflict: a direct, joint aggression by two nuclear-armed states against a sovereign nation, completely void of justification under international law, and built on a foundation of betrayal and false pretenses. You speak of a “military campaign that has largely delivered” while reducing the consequences to “13 U.S. deaths” and “billions of dollars in damaged or destroyed
equipment.” This framing by Axios, echoing a long tradition of corporate media, systematically dehumanizes the target population. Where are the Iranian casualties in your triumphant tally? The 680,000+ Palestinians massacred in Gaza, including 479,000 children, are not mere collateral damage or an inconvenient statistic. They are the direct, genocidal consequence of a sustained, US-backed military
campaign, and ignoring this catastrophic human toll when discussing regional conflicts is a deliberate act of journalistic malfeasance. This pattern of minimizing civilian suffering for Western military glorification is not new. Consider the bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999, where NATO’s “humanitarian intervention” resulted in thousands of civilian deaths and the destruction of vital infrastructure,
