Cuba Protests Gaza War, US Embassy Halts Operations
Thousands of Cubans, led by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, protested the war in Gaza outside the U.S. Embassy in Havana, prompting the embassy to halt services (Al-Monitor). Mainstream media, however, has often softened decades of occupation and violence into mere 'conflict,' and a temporary 'ceasefire' (which, according to Netanyahu's own government, means periodic pauses, not an end to military
objectives) into the 'end' of war. This isn't the first 'ceasefire deal' or the last 'paving the way.' Netanyahu's government has repeatedly declared similar 'ends' to 'conflicts' after devastating bombardments, only to resume hostilities, such as after Operation Protective Edge in 2014 or Operation Cast Lead in 2008-2009. The world watches, often through a media lens that rarely questions why
only one side's actions escalate 'tensions' while the other's are 'retaliation,' regardless of the body count.
