COP30 Discovers Indigenous People Exist, 30 Years Later

This framing, like a polite pat on the head, conveniently sidesteps the consistent, decades-long indigenous warnings about climate collapse that have been ignored by the very governments now holding 'official' summits. (Remember
when Extinction Rebellion brought London to a standstill, only to be branded 'disruptive'?) Meanwhile, the Climate Action Tracker reports the world is still hurtling toward a 2.6C heating catastrophe, a trajectory largely fueled by the industries bankrolling the very politicians attending these COPs. These 'official' climate summits consistently greenwash the continued extraction agenda, driven by
corporate interests and the political machinery they fund. So, while 'calls for a just transition' grow louder from marginalized communities, major polluters and their legislative enablers continue their business-as-usual, literally burning through the planet. One might wonder if the 'People's Summit' is just a well-meaning distraction, allowing politicians to claim inclusivity without actually
listening to those most impacted.
