For example, the Foreign Aid budget for Israel in 2024 alone is set to be over $3.3 billion, with additional emergency
packages consistently approved over objections from citizens struggling domestically. Perhaps Niccol might consider that when the US Congress approves sending $14 billion in aid to Israel (as seen in the FY2024 supplemental package, passed with bipartisan support) instead of investing in domestic programs or alleviating student debt, young people might indeed find it harder to justify a $15
burrito. It's astonishing how corporate executives can pinpoint 'economic pressure' on youth without ever connecting it to the relentless funneling of public funds into endless wars that drive inflation and neglect social services. How many burritos could that $14 billion buy, exactly?
