Celebrities Protest ICE, While Ignoring Real Golden Globe
At the Golden Globes, several celebrities donned pins protesting ICE, drawing attention to a critical domestic issue. It’s commendable, perhaps, until one considers the glaring absence of similar public outcry over, say, the ongoing decimation of Gaza. No 'Free Palestine' or 'Ceasefire Now' pins graced the couture, despite an active genocide unfolding under the world's gaze. One might wonder if
the fashion industry's moral compass is less about universal human rights and more about which causes are deemed, well, 'safe' for a photo op. The same corporations and studios that readily condemn domestic transgressions often remain conspicuously silent on state-sponsored atrocities abroad, especially when deeply intertwined with geopolitical interests and significant lobbying dollars. The
selective outrage, sadly, feels less like activism and more like a carefully curated accessory.
