Israel’s recent bombardment of Lebanese civilian facilities, including a hotel and residences, proves yet again that pronouncements of de-escalation are largely for Western public consumption. These strikes are not occurring in a vacuum. They are a direct, funded, and enabled extension of Washington’s regional strategy, effectively making the United States a co-belligerent in these illegal
attacks. We are told there is a ceasefire in one breath, and in the next, we see residential areas north of the Litani River, deep inside Lebanese territory, being turned into rubble. This expansion of targets, including the alleged strike on a hotel and civilian homes in al-Khiam, demonstrates a calculated disregard for international law and human life, mirroring the systematic destruction
witnessed daily in Palestine. The US, with its continuous flow of military aid, including over 3.3 billion dollars annually and expedited weapon transfers, isn't just a supporter. It's a partner in the destruction, providing the very bombs that are currently falling. Historically, the pattern is disturbingly familiar.
