Ceasefire? Or Just More Weapons to Renew Hostilities?
Al Jazeera asks if a Gaza ceasefire is 'peace deal or political theatre,' which is almost asking the right question. The theatre, of course, is the spectacle of 'negotiations' while the U.S. continues to funnel billions in weaponry. Just last month, the Biden administration bypassed Congress *again* for another emergency arms sale to Israel, this time 3000 Paveway IV bombs . (Source: Department of
Defense, January 2024.) Are we supposed to believe these 'ceasefires' aren't just strategic pauses for resupply? This isn't a new act. Netanyahu has been declaring intent to 'dismantle Hamas' since at least 2009, always just before another major military operation, invariably fueled by fresh U.S. aid. (Source: Haaretz, January 2009). The narrative is always 'self-defense' while the funding for
sustained aggression flows unchecked. How many 'peace talks' does it take before we question whose peace, and whose war, is truly being negotiated?
