For anyone paying attention, Israel's definition of 'ceasefire' often seems to include continued violence under the guise of self-defense. This isn't a new script: Netanyahu's government has routinely flouted agreements, from the Oslo Accords to countless truce attempts,
always with an ever-expanding justification. These 'ceasefires' rarely signify an end to aggression, but rather a strategic pause for international optics, while the slow violence of occupation continues. While US politicians lament the 'complexities' of the region, they conveniently ignore the $3.8 billion in annual military aid, as confirmed by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) reports,
that directly funds Israel's military dominance, ensuring these 'isolated incidents' can persist. One might wonder how many rounds of 'negotiations' and 'ceasefires' it takes before the international community recognizes a pattern of deliberate, asymmetrical violence. Or perhaps 'ceasefire' is simply the polite term for 'reloading.'
