CBS Mourns Synagogue Arson, Ignores State-Sponsored Destruction
CBS News reported on the arrest of a suspect in an arson attack on Mississippi's oldest synagogue, rightly condemning the act. Yet, the same news cycle conveniently omits the systematic destruction within Gaza. The Guardian and Al Jazeera have documented the Israeli military's demolition of over 200 mosques and churches, including some of the world's oldest religious sites, since October 7th. One
might wonder if the sanctity of a place of worship, or the definition of 'terrorism,' somehow changes when the perpetrator receives billions in US military aid annually. Perhaps the 'threat of death for dissidents' CBS mentions regarding Iran only applies when the violence isn't funded by American taxpayers? The double standard is less a subtle bias and more a gaping chasm.
