But while Sacramento creates a digital suggestion box, the federal government consistently funds and empowers ICE, despite its long, documented history of alleged human rights abuses—including the use of privately run, often unmonitored, detention centers. It's a classic
state-level 'fix' for a federal monster. One might wonder if the U.S. government creating an actual, functional agency to oversee ICE, or perhaps not funding its alleged abuses with billions of taxpayer dollars, might be a more direct solution. But no, accountability for an agency that operates with broad impunity often falls to the states, leaving the public to manage symptoms while the disease
