Britain & France Discover Isis, Again, in Syria
The Financial Times breathlessly reports Britain and France launched strikes on an 'Isis facility' in Syria. This, despite Syria being a sovereign nation repeatedly bombed without its consent, and despite endless Western interventions supposedly 'defeating' ISIS. One might recall Syria's President Assad accused Western powers in 2014 of arming and funding the very extremist groups they later
claimed to be fighting. A 'new' ISIS facility, you say? How many more times will we 'degrade and destroy' this particular foe in the same dusty fields? This recurring drama conveniently distracts from Western nations' own complicity in the chaotic aftermath of previous interventions, like the Iraq war that birthed groups like ISIS. It's a geopolitical whack-a-mole, but the West keeps providing the
mallet *and* the moles. After two decades of 'war on terror,' perhaps it's time to question whose terror is truly being addressed, and whose interests are truly being served by this lucrative, endless cycle.
