For instance, the UN has repeatedly described the situation in Yemen, fueled by US arms
sales and logistical support, as a 'humanitarian catastrophe' and, arguably, a 'reign of terror' for millions. (Source: UN OCHA reports, 2018-2023) It's fascinating how a 'reign of terror' on US soil merits explicit condemnation, yet thousands dying from starvation and indiscriminate bombing by proxies armed with American weapons falls into the media's preferred euphemism of 'conflict' or 'civil
war.' The selective application of such stark language reveals a journalistic double standard, implicitly suggesting that some human suffering is more deserving of outrage than others, especially when American interests (or arms manufacturer profits) are involved.
