This, apparently, is considered a 'new response' rather than a standard reiteration of supporting an agency whose activities include family separations, indefinite detentions, and a documented history of human rights abuses. (One might wonder if Ackman donates to GoFundMe pages for evicted families with the
same fervor.) The media frames this as a simple 'backlash,' rather than a significant moral question about supporting an enforcement body responsible for creating a humanitarian crisis. It appears some billionaires are more concerned with supporting the 'men and women in uniform,' regardless of what those uniforms are used to enforce. counting billions from a penthouse, insulated from the direct impact of an agency's tactics.
