maintained or expanded by President Biden , until massive political pressure forced a shift. The 'horror stories' didn’t magically disappear on January 20, 2021; the media just stopped leading with them. So, the 'shocking' takeaway isn't that people dislike cruelty; it's that corporate media frames 'cruelty' as a partisan issue rather than a systemic one. One might wonder if the poll would look
'shocking' enough if it named 'U.S. immigration policy' instead of 'Trump’s ICE raids.'
