What these reports often fail to highlight, however, is that this systematic abuse is perpetrated by a government receiving over $3.8 billion annually in U.S.
military aid, not to mention a supplemental $14 billion passed in HR 815, signed into law by President Biden this April. This isn't just 'alleged abuse'; it's 'alleged abuse with a made-in-America stamp of approval,' courtesy of politicians who take millions from organizations like AIPAC. One might wonder at what point 'deep concern' from the State Department translates into actual accountability,
or if it's merely performative sorrow. The U.S. has a long history of looking the other way as its allies commit abuses, from Chile to Saudi Arabia.
