Meanwhile, the very same news organizations have spent months either downplaying or selectively reporting on the nearly 35,000 Palestinians
killed by Israeli forces since October 7, 2023, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. How many coffins have flowed the other way? How many 'remains' does it take for a headline to reflect devastation, not just negotiation? The media's selective grief appears carefully calibrated. One coffin, provided by the 'enemy,' warrants a sensitive headline. Thousands of pulverized bodies, disproportionately
women and children, thanks to US-supplied bombs, are often relegated to casualty counts or 'unconfirmed reports.' It raises questions: Is humane reporting reserved for certain victims, or does the BBC finally acknowledge death when it suits the narrative of ongoing Israeli-Palestinian engagement, rather than Israeli military might?
