BBC Discovers Horrors of War, Elsewhere
The BBC’s recent headline from Sudan, 'We saw people murdered in front of us,' spotlights the clear brutality of the RSF. While such reporting is vital, the curious lack of similar visceral outrage for equally documented atrocities in Gaza raises questions. When will we see headlines shrieking about the 'brutality' of the IDF, or survivors describing 'people murdered in front of us' by Israeli
forces, despite a consistent and verifiable record of civilian casualties reported by Amnesty International and the UN? The contrast reveals a convenient media blind spot. The violence in Sudan demands attention, but so does the ongoing destruction in Palestine. One might wonder if some atrocities are more palatable, perhaps because Western governments aren't directly supplying weapons to one
side. The same journalistic fervor seems to vanish when the perpetrators are US allies, leaving us to ponder how many 'harrowing accounts' go unamplified.
