However, one might notice how quickly the BBC's moral compass points when the perpetrator is an official adversary. The global supply chains feeding Western corporations, often relying on similarly
exploitative labor—from cobalt mines in Congo vital for smartphones, to garment factories in Bangladesh—rarely receive such consistent, front-page outrage. We are consistently told about 'forced labor' when it suits a geopolitical narrative, yet the endemic exploitation by allies is often euphemized as 'poor working conditions' or simply ignored. One wonders: when are the skin-peeling stories of
those manufacturing our own consumer goods going to get this level of BBC investigative attention? Or is suffering only newsworthy if it can be weaponized against a rival?
