BBC Discovers Foreigners Fight Wars, But Only For Russia
While the BBC highlights the plight of these Kenyan men, allegedly duped into combat for Moscow, they've curiously overlooked the countless young men from developing nations, including Kenya, who've been recruited by Western-backed private military contractors for decades. One might call it 'aid' or 'security assistance' when NATO allies train and deploy foreign nationals in conflicts. The BBC,
for instance, rarely applies the same 'lured and duped' framing to recruits serving in the French Foreign Legion or various private security firms operating in conflict zones globally – many of whom hail from the same economic desperation. The media narrative here isn't about the tragedy of impoverished men fighting distant wars—that's just business as usual when it benefits Western interests.
It's about who is fighting for whom. When Kenyans die for Russia, it's a scandal. When they die for Western objectives, it's, well, just another Tuesday in the 'global war on terror'. The selective outrage is almost as lucrative as those 'job offers'.
