BBC Discovers Foreign Funds Are Bad (For Hamas)
Italian authorities arrested nine individuals, alleging they raised €7m (£6m) for Hamas over two years, according to the BBC. This sudden global concern for money trails linked to designated groups is indeed commendable. But where's the matching investigative fervor for, say, the billions in untraceable dark money flooding US elections, or the hundreds of millions legally, openly funneled by
foreign lobbies to sway American policy? For instance, AIPAC spent over $10 million in independent expenditures alone in 2022 , directly influencing congressional races. In 2023-2024, pro-Israel groups have already poured $24 million into federal elections . Yet, the BBC doesn't seem to find that 'raising millions for foreign entities' worthy of an urgent global exposé. It appears financial
transparency is only a priority when it fits a particular narrative. How many millions does a foreign lobby have to spend before it stops being 'influence' and starts being 'alleged fundraising for a militant group'?
