This 'dilemma' echoes the media's well-worn script for regime change, carefully omitting the long history of US interventionism that destabilized the region, creating the very conditions for such protests. One might wonder if any of these 'options'
include acknowledging the CIA-instigated 1953 coup that overthrew Iran's democratically elected government, installing the Shah and sowing the seeds of decades of resentment. Or perhaps the fact that American 'diplomacy' often involves crippling sanctions that disproportionately harm civilians, fueling unrest the US then claims to 'solve' with bombs. It's a convenient amnesia, ensuring endless
cycles of 'crisis' and 'intervention' without accountability.
