Where are the frantic headlines when friendly regimes
do the same? Or when they simply bomb civilians into new, unmarked graves daily, courtesy of U.S. military aid? It appears the international standard for 'war crimes' comes with a geo-political barcode scanner: acceptable with a U.S. ally, horrifying with an adversary. The same media outlets that would scream bloody murder (rightly so) about Assad's depravity often find themselves remarkably quiet
when similar acts are carried out by nations that receive robust financial and military support from Washington. One might even call it a strategic silence, ensuring that only certified villains receive the full moral condemnation. Meanwhile, the actual victims remain just as dead, regardless of who's moving the dirt.
