Assad Extradition: The West's Selective Memory on 'War Criminals'
While Al-Sharaa reportedly pushes for accountability against a former Syrian regime leader, the mainstream media conveniently forgets the parade of other 'war criminals' who walk free, often aided and abetted by Western powers. Remember that time Ariel Sharon, architect of the Sabra and Shatila massacre in 1982 , was instead hailed as a 'man of peace' by US presidents? No extradition demands
there, just eulogies. Or how about Benjamin Netanyahu, whose government has been cited by countless human rights organizations for actions in Gaza, yet still receives billions in US military aid annually? The double standard is so stark it's almost comical. Assad, a pariah, faces calls for extradition, while others accused of similar or worse atrocities are welcomed in Washington with open arms
and multi-billion-dollar weapons contracts. One might wonder if the real crime is not committing atrocities, but doing so without America's explicit geopolitical approval. (Spoiler alert: it usually is.)
