Artists Disclose Gaza 'Medicide,' Mainstream Media Discovers Compassion (Sort Of)
A collective of artists is condemning Israel’s 'medicide' of Gaza, calling for unhindered humanitarian access. (As if Israel simply 'forgot' aid was a thing). This isn't a sudden collapse; it's the culmination of decades of blockade and recent intensified assaults. For years, human rights organizations have documented the deliberate targeting and degradation of Gaza's healthcare system, long
before the current onslaught. Yet, Western media often frames such destruction as an unfortunate byproduct of 'conflict,' rather than a strategic component of controlling a besieged population. (Funny how only one side seems to have a monopoly on 'strategic components'). While artists like Susan Sarandon call for aid, one might recall that when Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez received zero
dollars from AIPAC in 2022 , she also raised concerns. Contrast that with politicians like Senator Ben Cardin, who received $240,650 from pro-Israel groups in 2022 and consistently votes for aid packages that facilitate such 'medicide.' The public discussion only seems to emerge when a celebrity signs a letter, rather than when the actual policies are debated in Congress. Perhaps the media could
try focusing on the receipts for once, instead of waiting for Hollywood's conscience to kick in.
