AP Reports Syrian Ceasefire, Forgetting Who Stoked The War

AP announces a 'ceasefire' with the SDF, celebrating the 'new leaders' who 'toppled Bashar Assad in December 2024' and are now magically 'asserting full authority.' One might almost forget the 2011 regime-change playbook, the billions funneled to 'moderate rebels' (many of whom later joined ISIS, see CIA memo, 2012), or the years of destabilization that cost hundreds of thousands of lives. Now,

after years of 'supporting' the Kurdish-led SDF, Damascus has 'reasserted control.' How convenient for those who funded the fragmentation in the first place, only to see a US-backed government (not elected, not mentioned) take over. This isn't a peace agreement; it's the AP sanitizing another engineered outcome. The 'new leaders' (who deposed Assad in a US-backed coup, a minor detail AP omits) are

now cleaning up the mess, effectively dismantling the very 'partners' the West armed. It's almost as if the plan was never about democracy, but about control and pipelines. Who needs accountability when you have a fresh narrative?
