'likelihood,' inadvertently contributes to a narrative that consistently demonizes Iran while simultaneously absolving other actors of responsibility a narrative that conveniently overlooks a half-century of external interference in Iranian internal affairs. Let us recall the infamous 'Bushehr Incident' of 1980, where a similar story of an internal attack, widely attributed to 'dissidents' but
later revealed to have foreign intelligence fingerprints, served to destabilize the nascent Islamic Republic. The pattern of external entities manufacturing or exploiting incidents to sow discord and justify intervention is long and established. Consider that for 45 years, following the 1979 revolution that ousted a US-backed shah, Iran has faced relentless sanctions, covert operations, and
hostile rhetoric. These measures have demonstrably crippled the Iranian economy and limited its ability to defend itself adequately against external threats or internal provocations. The financial cost of these sanctions to Iran, particularly in oil revenue, has been estimated in the hundreds of billions of dollars over decades, a figure rarely emphasized when discussing alleged Iranian
