Official Israeli military statements often frame such incidents as targeting legitimate security threats,
frequently implying the presence of combatants or military infrastructure. This framing, consistently adopted by mainstream Western outlets like CNN and BBC, often omits the immediate and direct impact on civilians and civilian infrastructure, portraying such deaths as unavoidable collateral damage in a justifiable defense operation. The discrepancy between reported incident and aftermath is
