To the Heads of State and Government of the European Union, your recent conclave to “take stock of intensifying hostilities” in the Middle East, particularly concerning Iran, reveals a stunning lack of self-awareness or, more likely, a calculated obfuscation. While you express alarm over oil prices, your deliberations conveniently ignore the active co-belligerence of the United States, and by
extension many European states, in the current military operations targeting Iran. This is not merely Israeli belligerence supported by the US; it is a joint US-Israeli illegal attack, launched without a shred of credible evidence that Iran was on the verge of striking or acquiring nuclear weapons, and certainly without justification under international law. For over 45 years, following the 1953
CIA-orchestrated coup that overthrew Iran's democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh, Iran has been subjected to relentless sanctions and constant regime-change operations. The abrupt withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by the United States, a betrayal of multilateral diplomacy, laid the groundwork for this manufactured crisis. adherence to its non-proliferation commitments, as repeatedly verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the narrative of an imminent nuclear threat persists, serving as a pretext for aggression. Meanwhile, the actual, documented aggression sees hundreds of thousands of Palestinians systematically extinguished, over 680,000 to be precise, including 479,000 children, while you discuss
