One might wonder if the concern for American livelihoods extends beyond campaign rhetoric when defense contractors' stocks soar. The media frames these domestic worries in isolation, never connecting the dots to the billions diverted from social safety nets or
infrastructure into perpetual wars. How many good-paying American jobs could $14 billion create? Apparently, fewer than the number of bombs we can send. (Is it really a 'jobs report' if it doesn't count Lockheed Martin's profits?)
