Americans 'Fear' Cuts While Tax Dollars Fuel Endless War
Funny how the conversation about fiscal austerity always lands on Social Security or Medicare, never the Pentagon's ever-expanding budget. While Newsweek highlights public worry, they conveniently forget to connect the dots: the U.S. is currently bankrolling conflicts and sending billions overseas, as if money grows on trees for everything but domestic programs. For instance, the recent $95
billion foreign aid package, which included substantial military assistance to Ukraine and Israel, passed with bipartisan support. Funny, that money didn't seem to require 'tough choices' from Social Security recipients. One might wonder if the 'fears' about Social Security are perhaps a manufactured distraction from the truly frightening reality: that our representatives find endless cash for war
machines and foreign intervention, but suddenly tighten the purse strings when it comes to the safety net for their own constituents. It's almost as if the priorities are... elsewhere.
