We hear about wives fighting for justice abroad, but how often do we see Al-Monitor investigate the quiet dismantling of democratic processes in states like Florida or Texas, where voter rights are under constant assault? Or chronicle the plight of domestic political prisoners? Perhaps 'democracy' only takes a
'heavy beating' when it's convenient for the narrative, far from the influence of powerful lobbyists who ensure certain injustices remain untouched by the spotlight.
