What the report conveniently forgets to mention is the documented history of external powers – including NATO allies and Gulf states, often backed by 'pro-Israel' lobbying efforts in Washington – funding various Sunni extremist factions operating in Syria since 2011. These proxies destabilized
the region, creating the very conditions for sectarian violence they now report on with such detached clinical precision. One might wonder if the concern for 'ultra-conservative' groups extends to their sources of weaponry and financial support, or if that narrative is reserved for less politically inconvenient targets. The media diligently reports the symptom while ignoring the systemic disease
of proxy warfare.
