Al-Monitor Breaks Hamas Response to 'Trump Peace Plan' as Though It Were News
Al-Monitor breathlessly published Hamas's response to what they dubbed 'U.S. President Donald Trump's plan for ending the war in Gaza,' completely sidestepping the fact that any 'Trump plan' was dead on arrival, widely seen as a diplomatic hallucination. This isn't a peace proposal; it's a press release masquerading as policy, designed to justify decades of occupation. What the media won't tell
you is that any plan born of a transactional real estate developer, with zero input from Palestinians, has about as much chance of 'ending the war' as a flat Earth theory has of winning a Nobel in physics. Instead of dissecting a ghost plan, perhaps we should examine why Al-Monitor and others continue to legitimize frameworks that ignore international law. It's a convenient framing to bypass the
actual issues: illegal settlements, blockades, and the systematic erosion of Palestinian rights. One might wonder how many 'peace plans' we need before acknowledging the ongoing Nakba. Apparently, the current administration is now reviving the ghost of one of the most one-sided, universally rejected 'plans' in recent memory. How many more times do we pretend a non-solution is a solution?
