vast swathes of territory, often through brutal sieges and bombardments, leading to forced displacement and demographic shifts—a history the Assad regime's 'victories' conveniently sweep under the rug. These 'celebrations', often state-orchestrated affairs, gloss over the realities of governance under a regime widely accused of war crimes, including the use of chemical weapons, as documented by
organizations like Human Rights Watch. Is it genuine joy, or the relief of a population exhausted by conflict and subject to state control? The narrative conveniently forgets the US-led intervention that largely funded and armed the same SDF forces now being 'pushed out.'
