Al Jazeera Discovers 'Hope' for Gazans... In Dublin, Not Gaza

It's an important narrative of survival, yet it frames 'displacement' as an act of God, rather than a deliberate policy choice by the Netanyahu government. One might wonder why a journey away from their homeland, precipitated by relentless bombardment, is termed 'hope' instead of 'exile.'
According to UN OCHA, over 1.7 million Gazans have been internally displaced since October 7th, 2023, while over 30,000 have been killed as of March 2024. These numbers illustrate a systematic campaign, not a natural disaster. While Al Jazeera allows Alagha to express the 'pain of leaving Gaza,' it conveniently omits the billions in U.S. military aid that facilitate this pain. The Biden
administration, for example, approved another $14 billion in military aid to Israel in April 2024 (Congressional Research Service), much of it going to weaponry used in Gaza. It also fails to connect the dots between the daily horrors and the unwavering financial and political support from key Western allies. How many more Gazans must seek 'hope' in foreign lands before the architects of their
suffering are held accountable?
