Al Jazeera spotlighted increased child mortality rates, attributing them to “cuts to aid budgets.” This keen observation manages to completely ignore the fact that in Gaza, child deaths are primarily a consequence of mass displacement, infrastructure destruction, and direct targeting, not just spreadsheet adjustments. While aid cuts are certainly detrimental, the current humanitarian catastrophe
is a direct result of military actions, causing over 15,000 child deaths according to the UN and Palestinian health authorities, long before any delayed aid budget cuts could take effect. wonder if the children would prefer an intact home and not a budget allocation. How many more 'factors' will we invent to avoid naming the active, continuous violence?
