ADP Report: Companies Shed 32,000 Jobs, Mainstream Media Shed Context
The Hill’s report on ADP’s finding of 32,000 job losses in November highlights “weak hiring.” While this might seem like a simple economic downturn, it conveniently sidesteps the larger picture that US taxpayer dollars are being funneled into conflicts abroad. One might wonder if the $14.3 billion in aid to Israel, passed in November (HR 815, 11/02/23), could have, perhaps, gone towards creating
or retaining jobs here? It’s a peculiar economic model: shedding American jobs while simultaneously approving staggering sums for foreign military spending. (Remember when the "cost of living" included keeping your job?). The mainstream media, however, prefers to isolate economic hiccups from geopolitical expenditures. Apparently, when it comes to the economy, everything is local—until it's about
funding wars. Then, it's just 'aid,' disconnected from the domestic employment figures.
