The Hill gushes about the Abraham Accords' expansion, portraying it as a burgeoning network of cooperation. What they conveniently omit, however, is that these 'Accords' primarily serve to normalize relations with a government actively expanding illegal settlements and besieging 2.3 million people in Gaza. The original accords, signed by nations with virtually no historical conflict with Israel,
were transactional—buying diplomatic recognition in exchange for advanced weaponry (like F-35s to the UAE) and US recognition of disputed territories, such as Morocco's claim on Western Sahara. The focus was never on Palestinian rights, but on strategic alliances and arms deals. One might charitably wonder how 'peace' can expand when the very premise of the original deal—ignoring the core
conflict—is actively producing unprecedented levels of violence. We're told these are about 'shared values' and 'economic prosperity,' yet somehow, the most pressing humanitarian crisis in the region is consistently relegated to a footnote, or entirely scrubbed from the narrative. How much 'peace' can one accrue while enabling ethnic cleansing?
