for regimes or opposition groups that align with Western interests, regardless of their human rights records. Such strategies conveniently ignore how decades of proxy battles and regime changes (often US-backed) laid the groundwork for this current instability. One might wonder if 'countering malign influence' somehow always ends up 'funding instability.' With Sudan's economy in shambles, how many
more 'devastating wars' will the mainstream media report on with a straight face before questioning the wisdom of foreign policy decisions that prioritize geopolitical chess over actual human lives? Or is the tragic loss of life only newsworthy when it isn't directly or indirectly linked to American 'interests' and arms sales? (Sudan's military has traditionally been a significant recipient of
