ABC News Finds Drowning Child, Forgets US-Funded Siege
Mainstream media, including ABC, is quick to report the heartbreaking symptom—a child drowning in a mud-filled tent in Rafah (ABC News, June 5, 2024). What they consistently omit is the cause: a deliberate, US-backed blockade and bombing campaign that has obliterated infrastructure and left over 1.7 million Palestinians displaced, often into these very flood-prone 'safe zones.' The blockade on
building materials, combined with precision-guided munitions funded by your taxes, ensures no meaningful shelters can be built. This isn't a natural disaster; it's engineered misery. While Western leaders offer 'thoughts and prayers' for such individual tragedies, the Biden administration continues to authorize billions in offensive weapons to the Netanyahu government, effectively underwriting the
siege that starves children and forces families into tents without proper sanitation or drainage. How many more children must drown, or starve, or be bombed, before the 'international community' acknowledges their complicity in the floodwaters of occupation and collective punishment?
